Take Action to Protect America’s Prairie Wetlands

The clock is ticking. We have a brief opportunity to tell the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect the science-based safeguards that have protected the Prairie Pothole Region for more than 60 years.

Known as North America’s “duck factory,” the Prairie Pothole Region produces the majority of the continent’s ducks while providing vital habitat for wildlife, improving water quality, and reducing flooding. These wetlands have been protected through voluntary conservation easements funded by Federal Duck Stamp purchases—investments made by generations of hunters and conservationists.

Now, those protections are at risk. Changes to long-standing wetland management standards could undermine decades of conservation progress and threaten waterfowl populations, hunting and fishing opportunities, clean water, and critical wildlife habitat.

Sign the petition by Thursday, August 6, to be included in the League’s official submission to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
