The national staff of the Izaak Walton League of America includes a great team of professionals who work in the areas of volunteer science, environmental policy, grassroots advocacy and communications. Most staff work from our headquarters building, which is located on 30 acres of forest in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Salt Watch Coordinator
The Salt Watch Coordinator manages and supports the League’s national Salt Watch monitoring program under the direction of the Clean Water Program Director. The role focuses on recruiting and retaining volunteers and partners, coordinating the creation and distribution of monitoring kits, supporting volunteers with data collection and the Clean Water Hub, and using ArcGIS to analyze water quality trends. The Coordinator also develops advocacy resources and communications materials, builds partnerships, and works closely with IWLA’s communications team to share Salt Watch findings through the website, social media, publications, and local, state, and regional media to raise awareness and encourage smarter road-salt practices.
Salary: $46,000 to $50,000 annually and commensurate with
experience and qualifications
Your kit will include a bottle containing 25 nitrate test strips which you can use to test your water source(s) throughout the year. You’ll also receive postcards explaining how to use your nitrate test strips and how to share your Nitrate Watch results on the Clean Water Hub.
Your kit will include four test strips so you can test your waterway throughout the season. You’ll also receive a chart to help you interpret your results and a postcard with instructions for completing a Salt Watch test and reporting your findings.
