Virginia Save Our Streams receives 2026 RES EcoGuardian Award
RES, the nation’s largest ecological restoration company, selects environmental nonprofits to honor each Earth Day through their EcoGuardian Award. Winners are organizations making a meaningful impact on the environment by restoring ecosystems, protecting wildlife, and strengthening communities nationwide. This year, Virginia Save Our Streams (VA SOS) is among the 8 award recipients.
Each recipient is nominated by an RES employee who is actively involved in the organization. VA SOS was nominated by Scientist III Leah Purdy, who volunteers for VA SOS with the Riverine Master Naturalists in Richmond, Virginia. “I really love working with this group and I find the work to be very valuable,” Leah says, “I really appreciate how it gets citizen science involved with our streams and waterways in a way that you don’t often see.”
The Izaak Walton League is grateful to RES for their recognition and support. And a big thank you to Leah for nominating us!
