Season 6 Salt Watch Kickoff: Engaging Youths and Mobilizing Adults (Webinar)
It’s the Season 6 Salt Watch kickoff! In this webinar, we were joined by Abby Hileman, David Bell, and Kaitlyn Royal. Abby Hileman is the Izaak Walton League’s new Salt Watch Coordinator. David Bell is a TTF Streamkeeper, boat captain, and author. Kaitlyn Royal is an Allegheny College student and Creek Connections Educator.
The panelists discuss ways they have used the Salt Watch Program to spread the word about road salt pollution, engaging young people in and out of the classroom and advocating for change among adults and local governments. Learn why road salt is a problem for our streams and drinking water and what you can do to help!
Your kit will include a bottle containing 25 nitrate test strips which you can use to test your water source(s) throughout the year. You’ll also receive postcards explaining how to use your nitrate test strips and how to share your Nitrate Watch results on the Clean Water Hub.
Your kit will include four test strips so you can test your waterway throughout the season. You’ll also receive a chart to help you interpret your results and a postcard with instructions for completing a Salt Watch test and reporting your findings.
