‘Izaak Walton League weighs in on USDA reorganization’

In late August, the Izaak Walton League of America voiced concerns over the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s reorganization plan. In a letter (PDF Document) to Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, the League outlined five key recommendations to ensure conservation programs remain effective and uninterrupted. These include maintaining timely access to conservation services for farmers, ensuring sufficient staff capacity, holding listening sessions with stakeholders, safeguarding the integrity of the 2027 Census of Agriculture, and supporting USDA staff through the transition. The correspondence also emphasized the importance of keeping conservation a priority amid structural changes.
