Winners Will Receive:
- One Grand Prize winner will receive a limited-edition Izaak Walton League 100th Anniversary Nalgene water bottle, an Izaak Walton League hat, a collection of original macroinvertebrate stickers, and a pen/pencil set.
- Five Category Winners will each receive a limited-edition Izaak Walton League 100th Anniversary Nalgene water bottle and a collection of original macroinvertebrate stickers.
Submission Deadline: December 31, 2025
Categories
- Macroinvertebrates: Photos of aquatic macroinvertebrates collected while monitoring or exploring a stream.
- Monitoring in Action: Photos taken during a monitoring event, including participants collecting samples, performing habitat assessments, calculating stream scores, etc.
- Nature and Wildlife: Photos of wildlife and nature found at streams, including at monitoring sites or recreational areas.
- Outdoor Recreation: Photos of your favorite outdoor recreation activities (hiking, fishing, etc.) at streams.
- Waterways in Trouble: Photos of water quality threats or signs of water quality issues.
Contest Rules
There is no limit to the number of photos submitted per individual, but each photo can only be submitted to a single category. Submissions must be received by December 31, 2025. All photos must be original. Light edits/enhancements only – images with heavy effects, manipulations, watermarks, unnatural saturation, exposure, or contrast will not be considered. Entrants must obtain permission from any individual or group of individuals featured in a photograph before submitting it to the contest. Izaak Walton League of America staff will make selections based on the quality, composition, content, originality, creativity, and mass appeal. Decisions are final and in sole and absolute discretion of staff. By entering the contest, you grant the League a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to publicly display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or later developed, for any purpose, including, but not limited to, advertising and promotion of the League and its website, exhibition, and commercial products, including but not limited to League publications. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. The Izaak Walton League will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.

Your kit will include a bottle containing 25 nitrate test strips which you can use to test your water source(s) throughout the year. You’ll also receive postcards explaining how to use your nitrate test strips and how to share your Nitrate Watch results on the Clean Water Hub.
Your kit will include four test strips so you can test your waterway throughout the season. You’ll also receive a chart to help you interpret your results and a postcard with instructions for completing a Salt Watch test and reporting your findings.
