Smart Salt Applicator Training for Parking Lots and Sidewalks

This training will help property managers, salt applicators, business owners, municipalities, and facilities crews who apply salt in the City of Rockville, Maryland improve salt application effectiveness & reduce chloride pollution while keeping roads, parking lots, and sidewalks safe. Participating organizations have been able to reduce their salt use by 30 to 70% – helping to prevent damage to our infrastructure and threats to our drinking water and local freshwater ecosystems.

The Smart Salt Applicator Training is offered for free to road salt applicators who apply salt in the City of Rockville, Maryland. Interested individuals should fill out the waitlist* signup form: https://forms.gle/GJnrMq7N6B8aAfzu5

This course is offered virtually or in-person. With virtual attendance, there are limited log-ins available. However, there is the option to attend in-person at 707 Conservation Lane, Gaithersburg, MD 20878 for individuals and groups without computer access. 

*Submitting this form does NOT mean that you have been enrolled in the December 2026 applicator training. However, you must complete this form to be considered for one of the limited spots in the course. We will contact you closer to the date of the course if you are selected to be enrolled. 

Thanks to funding from the City of Rockville and the Chesapeake Bay Trust, the course is FREE for participants.
