City of Gaithersburg Oktoberfest
No clean water, no good beer! Join the Salt Watch team in Gaithersburg, Maryland to celebrate Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 11 from noon-5pm. Salt Watch will have a table where you can pick up a free Salt Watch kit, Salt Watch swag and information on how to reduce winter salt pollution at home this winter.
Dust off your dirndl, grab your lederhosen and get ready to Prost! The City of Gaithersburg presents the 33rd annual celebration of Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from noon to 5 p.m. The festival takes place in and around the Arts Barn, Kentlands Mansion, Kentlands Village Green and along Main Street and Inspiration Lane. Admission and parking are free. Free wheelchair accessible shuttle service will run regularly during festival hours to and from satellite parking at 101 Orchard Ridge Drive, just off of Quince Orchard Road.

Your kit will include a bottle containing 25 nitrate test strips which you can use to test your water source(s) throughout the year. You’ll also receive postcards explaining how to use your nitrate test strips and how to share your Nitrate Watch results on the Clean Water Hub.
Your kit will include four test strips so you can test your waterway throughout the season. You’ll also receive a chart to help you interpret your results and a postcard with instructions for completing a Salt Watch test and reporting your findings.
