Scott Kovarovics

Executive Director

Scott is the chief executive of the League working with its Board of Directors, volunteer leaders, members and staff to advance the League’s mission. Outside of the office, he is active in community-based conservation as a League chapter member, involved in environmental education where he lives in Arlington, Virginia, and enjoys hiking, fishing and kayaking in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.

Maggie Dombroski

Save Our Streams Coordinator, Mid-Atlantic region

Maggie oversees the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative/Virginia Save Our Streams volunteer benthic macroinvertebrate monitoring program. She is a resident of Fairfax, Virginia where she enjoys practicing yoga and participating in her church community.

Jessica Gordon

Grassroots Advocacy Manager

In her role as Grassroots Advocacy Manager, Jess engages League membership and outside partners with advocacy actions both large and small. Jess resides on the Iowa side of the Quad Cities. She’s an avid reader, has several children and cats, performs in two improv comedy troops, and is married to her best friend.

Kate Hansen

Agriculture Program Director

Kate leads the League’s agriculture work to increase conservation practices, improve water quality, and restore soil health on farmland across the country. She is based in northern Indiana, and in her spare time enjoys hiking, volunteering, playing racquet sports, and exploring the Indiana Dunes.

Abby Hileman

Salt Watch Coordinator

Abby leads the efforts of the Salt Watch program, expanding the project into new regions across the country, reaching new groups of volunteers, and providing resources to make lasting change—from data to action. She has a passion for connecting people to their communities and to nature and believes that small scale actions add up to make a big impact on conservation success.

Earl Hower

Director of Chapter Relations

Earl has been on the League staff for nearly three decades and works with local chapters providing the tools, resources and services necessary to advance their mission. In his spare time, he is active in urban forestry advocacy where he lives in Leesburg, Virginia, and alumni activities associated with the Penn State School of Forest Resources. He lives to hunt assorted game—primarily white-tailed deer, black bear and wild turkey in northern Pennsylvania.

Matthew Kierce

Chesapeake Monitoring Outreach Coordinator

Matthew is the Chesapeake Monitoring Outreach Coordinator, working to connect the League’s volunteer water monitoring efforts in the Bay watershed with the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative (CMC). Through the CMC, volunteer data is integrated into the Chesapeake Bay Program, state agencies and beyond. In his free time, he enjoys collecting vinyl records, photography and watching sports.

Jared Mott

Conservation Director

Jared oversees all of the League’s conservation programming and advocacy efforts. He lives in Virginia with his wife and enjoys any time he can find outside hunting, fishing, camping or hiking.

Samantha Puckett

Clean Water Program Director

Sam, who has been at the Izaak Walton League since early 2016 in various roles, now leads the clean water team in all aspects of volunteer monitoring and advocacy. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and dogs, crafting and supporting the local food system via her weekly CSA shares and U-Pick endeavors.

Michael Reinemer

Editor, Outdoor America and Communications Director

Michael edits Outdoor America magazine and manages external communications. Previously he ran communications programs at the Wilderness Society, National League of Cities and NASDAQ. He’s a member of the National Association of Science Writers and is a lifetime member of the Izaak Walton League and Gilwell Scout Troop #1.

Mary Rubin

Director of Member Programs

Mary works with chapters, members and League leadership across a wide range of activities including membership, fundraising, chapter and division needs and the convention. She holds an MBA degree and is a published author. She also is an avid cross-stitcher, lover of jigsaw puzzles and is passionate about her library of 15,000 books.

Erica Smith

Membership Manager

Erica processes all the national League memberships while supporting MDR’s and members with questions and concerns regarding membership. During her spare time, she enjoys tapping into her artistic side, which includes writing poems, party decorating or deciding what will be her next DIY project. She has two sons and a dog named Lola who she loves spending time with.

Heather Wilson

Save Our Streams Coordinator, Midwest Region

Heather is the League’s Midwest Save Our Streams Coordinator. In this role, she trains and supports Save Our Streams volunteers and trainers across the Midwest and manages the Nitrate Watch program. Heather is based in St. Louis, Mo. and in her spare time she enjoys crafting, gardening, cycling and camping.
