DESCRIPTION:This event serves as the field training requirement for becoming a certified Virginia Save Our Streams monitor. Prior to this event\, you must complete the online portion of the certification\, including watching webinars and passing a macroinvertebrate identification quiz. Note: this training is for the Rocky Bottom protocol only. \n  \nWhen: Sunday\, November 1\, 2026 from 11am-1:30pm \nWhere: Newport Recreation Area\, 7 Oaks Road Newport\, VA \nDirections: From Blacksburg get on US-460 W.Drive to VA-42 E. Right hand exit at the Exxon-Super Value Grocery. On VA-42E pass the Newport Community Center and the Rec. Area is on the right. \n  \nThis event is hosted by the New River Valley Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists.
