W. J. McCabe

The W.J. McCabe Chapter is widely known throughout the northern Minnesota -Wisconsin region for its “hands on, sleeves-rolled-up” initiatives to protect water, air, and soil. Our other work includes public education/outreach, grassroots public policy activism on all aspects of environmental protection, and promoting healthy, sustainable outdoor pursuits. Our chapter’s membership is comprised of a broad spectrum of concerned citizens, from avid outdoors enthusiasts to others who are very knowledgeable in the enjoyment and protection of our natural resources. We meet monthly, September through May, at 7:00 P.M. on the first Wednesday of each month at the Hartley Nature Center. The public is welcome! Our League Chapter annually hosts the local Spring Youth Outdoor Expo, which is free and designed to appeal to young people from the ages of 7 through 17. At the Expo, they can learn a variety of outdoor skills, plus interact with public safety professionals (as shown in the photo).
