Rapid City
The Rapid City Chapter is very active in local, state, and national conservation projects and issues. Locally, we support many youth and family programs, including Creek Freaks, Women in Science, Outdoor Campus, and Camp Bob Marshall. At the state level, we worked with the South Dakota Wild Grasslands Coalition to bring wilderness designation to a portion of the Buffalo National Grasslands. We have also been active on wetland drainage issues and acted as a watchdog for mining and extraction issues in the Black Hills region. At the national level, we have worked to bring clarity to Clean Water Act protections, promote conservation programs contained in the Farm Bill, and support the League’s Missouri River Initiative. We meet at 6:30 PM on the first Wednesday of every month with the exception of July, August, and December, when we meet at the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks’ Outdoor Campus West in Rapid City. Come join us!
