Kampeska
The Kampeska Chapter is busy year-round with activities, from sponsoring an ice fishing tournament on Lake Kampeska in the winter to hosting a fundraising golf tournament in the summer. We host the Mike Williams Lecture Series (named in honor of a past national president and chapter member) and manage land leased from the city of Watertown as a native prairie – a project that won the League’s national James Lawton Childs Award. We help make bird feeders with youth each summer, put on a fishing clinic for youth in the fall, maintain up to 30 wood duck boxes, and have an annual cleanup of our Izaak Walton Memorial Park Trail and the 3rd Avenue pond hiking trail. We sponsor $500 scholarships for a high school senior and a second-year student at the Lake Area Technical Institute. We have monthly meetings to discuss future activities and any conservation issues in the area. Conservation and youth are our priorities.
